This webinar will present and discuss the findings of a new Earth4All deep-dive paper developed by Power Shift Africa, Kenya’s energy paradox: Green electricity, expensive energy.

Bringing together experts from Kenya and beyond, the discussion will explore the structural challenges behind Kenya’s high energy costs, the impact of global energy market volatility, and the policies needed to ensure a just and inclusive energy transition. Particular attention will be given to energy affordability, clean cooking, transport electrification, and innovative approaches to financing the transition. The conversation will also situate Kenya’s experience within the broader geopolitical context, drawing lessons for other African countries seeking to achieve economic prosperity while reducing their dependence on fossil fuels.

Speakers will include Amos Wemanya, Mohamed Adow and Colin Besaans from Power Shift Africa. The webinar will be moderated by Sandrine Dixson-Declève, Executive Chair of Earth4All.
