Earth4All at COP30

As world leaders and civil society converge in Belém for COP30, Earth4All is co-convening several events to advance progress on achieving planetary stability, social equity and wellbeing for all.

Wednesday 12 November

9:00-10:00 BRT | Planetary Science Pavilion | Safe, just, and systemic: science-based pathways for climate policy

Earth4All, the Earth Commission, and the Global Commons Alliance convene this event at the Planetary Science Pavilion to advance understanding of how systems change approaches – rooted in the latest Earth system science, socio-economic sciences and integrated modelling – are essential for COP30 to deliver ambitious climate action at speed and scale. The event will be moderated by Sandrine Dixson-Declève, Executive Chair of Earth4All and Johan Rockström, Director, Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research.

This event will draw on the Earth4All’s system dynamics modelling, notably its new social tension modelling for Brazil, and the Earth Commission’s safe and just boundaries framework to highlight scientifically grounded planetary guardrails, transformative economic pathways, and equitable social frameworks necessary to safeguard the global commons and achieve ambitious, just, and resilient climate outcomes.

Thursday 13 November

13:15-14:15 BRT | Planetary Science Pavilion | Trust and fairness as tools for addressing climate change: the Brazilian case

This event will present the first iteration of Earth4All’s integrated systems modelling of Brazil’s climate, social, and economic future. This work applies advanced modelling techniques to the Brazilian context, examining the complex interactions between land use, energy transitions, social equity, and climate adaptation.

Following a presentation of the modelling results, an expert panel will explore how Earth4All’s proposed systems-based approach can guide Brazil’s transition toward a net-zero, inclusive, and cohesive society – laying the groundwork for new forms of integrated policy design that bridge social and planetary boundaries.

Friday 14 November

21:00 – 22:30 BRT | TED Countdown House | Imagining the future to build it: Dancing with systems

TED and the Club of Rome come together at TED Countdown House for Imagining the future to build it: Dancing with systems on Friday 14 November.

Humanity’s greatest challenges are not only technical but imaginative. This nightcap invites us to reawaken that capacity. Guided by Donella Meadows’ “Dancing with Systems”, we’ll explore how imagination, culture, and emotion can unlock an economy rooted in wellbeing, stewardship and care. We’ll move from head to heart to feet: imagining the future, feeling it, and taking a few dance steps toward it!

Request to join here.

Saturday 15 November

18:30-20:00 BRT | Side event room 2, Blue Zone | Official side event – Justice and wellbeing within planetary boundaries: pathways for COP30

Convened by Earth4All, the Earth Commission and the Global Commons Alliance, this official side event will explore how systems-based approaches are essential for a new era of global climate action that connects peace and security, climate change, nature, poverty, and economic systems transformation.

The event will highlight the vital peace and security imperative underlying COP30 negotiations and demonstrate how systems thinking can strategically connect policy domains to enhance coherence, equity, and impact. A panel discussion will explore applying systems approaches to understand the complex threat environment. The event will be co-chaired by Sandrine Dixson-Declève, Executive Chair of Earth4All and Johan Rockström, Director, Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research.
