A new book outlining a global deal to accelerate progress on the Sustainable Development Goals features insights from Earth4All contributors alongside other European progressive experts and policymakers.
A New Global Deal: Reforming World Governance aims to contribute to open dialogue concerning the priorities of reforming world governance and policies to address current global challenges ahead of the UN Summit of the Future in September 2024.
The book, published by the Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS), tackles the questions of how to reform the global financial architecture and the UN’s institutions, and outlines the kind of new global deal that is necessary in order to enable all countries to implement the Sustainable Development Goals.
The chapter SDGs for all: strategic scenarios; Earth4All system dynamics modelling of SDG progress by Earth4All executive chair Sandrine Dixson-Declève, senior policy lead Johannah Bernstein and science advisory team members David Collste and Nathalie Spittler draws on the SDGs For All report published in October 2023. SDGs for All highlights “the massive acceleration in the scale and speed of transformative change” required to meet the challenges of the SDGs and beyond, and examines SDG progress in the light of Earth4All’s five turnarounds. It shows how their implementation could deliver concrete wins for many SDGs, and sounds the alarm on gender and climate as areas where we are still falling short.
The book is available for download at the FEPS website. Its key proposals will be presented at the UN Civil Society Conference in Nairobi on 9-10 May.
