Wellbeing Economy Forum 2026

The Wellbeing Economy Forum is a global platform for dialogue, collaboration, and change among politicians, policymakers, business leaders, academics and practitioners. Organised by the Icelandic Directorate of Health with support from the EU Health Programme, the Forum is committed to reshaping our economic systems to operate within environmental limits and prioritise the wellbeing of all generations.

The 2026 Forum will take place in Reykjavík, Iceland, and will explore what it means to redefine progress beyond traditional measures such as GDP and how we can build economic systems that support health, equity, sustainability and prosperity within environmental limits. Through inspiring speakers and cross-sector exchange, the Forum will highlight practical approaches and policy ideas that put wellbeing at the centre of decision-making.

The programme features keynotes, panel discussions and roundtables with prominent wellbeing experts, politicians and policy experts. Sandrine Dixson-Declève, Honorary President of the Club of Rome and Executive Chair of Earth4All will chair the panel discussion How to go Beyond GDP — Building Metrics for Wellbeing, Inclusion and Sustainability on Thursday 16 April, exploring new economic metrics that go beyond GDP to capture people’s wellbeing, planetary boundaries, and long-term prosperity.

She will also participate as a panelist in the session Climate and Health — Shaping a New WHO Agenda on Friday 17 April, in dialogue with former Prime Minister of Iceland Katrín Jakobsdóttir, who co-leads the WHO Commission on Climate and Health.

Two other members of the Club of Rome will also feature as speakers: Kristín Vala Ragnarsdóttir, Professor Emerita at the University of Iceland and Enrico Giovannini, Full Professor of Economic Statistics and Sustainable Development at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” and Professor at the National School of Administration (SNA).
